Our struggle is not against flesh and blood...so put on the full armor of God...and pray in the Spirit (Eph 6:12,13,18).

Thanksgiving and Prayer for Ross & Mary August-September 2022

1. In August, Mary discovered she had (and still has) the shingles! Please pray for Mary who is suffering through this viral infection that attacks the nervous system. At the same time, Mary got the flu that I had after returning from Peru. Thankfully, the flu part has "flown" and we hope the shingles will run its course soon.  In response to these health issues, we moved our return date to Ecuador to mid-September, pending Mary's recovery.

2. Praise God and congratulations to Mary for finishing her graduate certificate on Discipleship and Spiritual Formation from the Moody Theological Seminary! When placed alongside her Advanced Studies certificate in Bible and theology that Mary received at Moody back in the mid 1980's, she now has a close equivalant to what Moody offers in their MA program!

3. Praise and thank you for your prayers for my trip to Peru for the Pioneers regional South American conference. I ended up canceling my trip to Costa Rica for the ProMETA retreat (late July) that provided precious time to be with our family who had gathered in Oxford. I have tentative plans to return to Ecuador in mid-September a couple weeks ahead of Mary to fix some plumbing issues and begin teaching at the Peniel seminary, which is also part of my research at CIU. Please pray for the many details I have to attend to in Oxford between now and then.

4, Praise for the successful mission trip and positive report from our national co-worker Javier, and the Quichua mission team from the Jesus El Buen Pastor church in Caracas Venezuela! Pray for the Jivi church and neighboring tribes in the Amazon region that were impacted, and for our continued efforts to help them design a new indigenous training program for that region.
